Another baby boy to share with you today. He was just as adorable and just as sleepy! In fact, lasting under two hours, I think this was my shortest newborn session ever. Baby A was born about a week late and was a big baby. Add that to the fact that his family drove from Cape Cod for their session, and I wasn't sure how sleepy he would be. Did anyone catch NBC's Today Show yesterday? The two newborn photographers featured have been constant inspiration to me since my beginnings in photographing newborns. If you get a chance, check out the segment and you can see a little bit of what newborn photographers do to catch those teeny newborns sleeping.

This little man ended the streak of not-so-sleepy newborns that have been visiting the studio. Those feisty girls have been giving me a run for my money! I got to end the week with two baby boys full of chubbiness, smiles, and sleep! L was a complete dream boat... the lips, the lashes... photographer's dream! Enjoy your preview mom ;0)

This beautiful baby girl came to the studio this week and she continued the trend of not-so-sleepy newborns I've been having lately! You would never know it from the portraits, however. She is certainly a sleeping beauty! I have to give credit to mom who relentlessly cluster-fed her to help get these shots! I am so proud to introduce you to my new niece, baby E. I could have held her all day yesterday! She was wide awake at the beginning of our session so I had some extra time getting to cuddle her to sleep. I 'm pretty sure she just wanted to play with her Aunty! She already knows how much fun I am! She was good to me though and had a nice little sleepy period so we could get some of the shots you see below. I grew up eating globs of cookie dough from Dear Hearts while throwing stones off of the bridge and into the Pawtuxet River. We have had some impressive weather lately, and when I heard that the Pawtuxet was reaching record flood stages, I had to grab my camera and catch some of history being made. The first photos are from Pawtuxet Village (right near our rehearsal dinner spot!), where the Pawtuxet meets Narragansett Bay. The second are from a spot on Elmwood ave where the bridge is closed. Pardon my shaky hands. Pouring rain, slow shutter speed, plus holding an umbrella with one hand, does not for good pictures make!

These two cuties came to visit the studio this weekend and I had so much fun with mom and dad trying to get both of their attention at the same time! They had such distinctly different personalities, it was fun to watch. We got lots of adorable individual shots as well as some portraits together that are so sweet. Twins are definitely double the cuteness!

Baby E and his parents came to visit on Saturday and boy did he give me a workout! He was so adventurous, we had to be very creative to catch him on camera! At the end of the session we finally cleared everything out of the middle of the studio and just let him run wild. That's when we got some of the biggest smiles. I can't wait for the warm (and dry!) weather so we can start heading outdoors for these sessions.

This weekend was lots of fun as I got to spend my Saturday with four sweet babies at the studio. You may remember this adorable baby girl from her newborn session here. This little man came to visit the studio last week and he was awake and ready to party! What do you do with a newborn who won't sleep??? Well, I must say, my mom's beautiful knit cocoons came in handy! Snuggled up inside was pretty much the only place he would sleep outside of his parents' arms. I just adored his sweet little profile and spikey hair. What a cutie!

I don't believe I've brought my camera home since January. So much for my resolution! I enjoyed a Sunday off this week and spent the day with S and G gardening and painting eggs for Easter. G has not been liking the camera lately, but today she was a total ham! At 1 1/2 years old, she sang the whole alphabet on camera and actually flashed me a few smiles while I was documenting her work. And hard at work she was! This girl could color for hours. Here are some of my favorites from our Easter egg painting.

I was so excited to share this preview with you. Twin girls E and S were so much fun to work with yesterday. They were so easy, I didn't even need my assistant! Mom and dad got little sleep the night before, but I bet they'll think it was worth it once they see their sleepy sweethearts in these photos. The garden is in full bloom! This week it is pink tulips and pussy willows. What am I doing with all of these flowers you ask? Well, lets just say that next spring, my home will be overtaken by tulips. This little girl was a fiesty one. Only 8 days old, but born 5 days late, this little peanut gave me a run for my money. She only slept for two minute intervals and I don't believe I've ever witnessed a newborn eat more at a session! Luckily, she slept long enough for me to catch some adorable shots. I've gotten good at working fast with the not-so-sleepy bunch. That is when the studio comes in handy because everything is right at our fingertips when baby finally decides to doze. I haven't traveled to a home for newborn portraits in some time and it was so refreshing to get out of the studio and visit this family last week! They had a beautiful nursery with fabulous light, so we set up the whole session right there. Big brother L was so helpful and I just melt over the shots of him and his baby sister. Normally I supply the props, but mom was one step ahead of me and had so many adorable hats and pettiskirts for me to play with when I arrived! I had so much fun with the family who came to visit the studio today that I couldn't wait to share their preview with you! Sweet baby M was nice and sleepy and her big sister S was a fabulous model and helper. Toddlers can be very unpredictable in their reactions to their new siblings and often the attention showered on a new baby during a newborn shoot can exaggerate this. At 2 1/2 years old, S was so sweet to her sister, so helpful around the studio, and a total ham for the camera. We did the whole shoot in just two hours! I just adore the portraits we got. This little man was so good to me yesterday! He ate his way through the shoot, but had a nice heavy sleepy period in the middle for us to have some fun. We were able to breeze through 4 different set ups before he woke up again. My newborns lately have been rocking the chin -in-hands pose and MJ was no different! It was certainly hard to pick for the preview this time.

Another baby's first year client graduates! This little cutie pie has been in front of my lens since she was 3 months old and I can't believe she is already turning a year! We had some fun in the studio for her cake smash session, although she wasn't really digging the cake. By far, she was one of the cleanest one-year-olds that I've met. She was so excited about the cake..... until it got on her finger. Everyone loves a smiley baby shot, but I must admit, my favorite shot of the session is her little serious face below. Her eyes just pierce the lens! She's a beauty!

Big News!

So what’s the big news? I think I have kept everyone in suspense long enough!

There have been so many changes to Heidi Hope Photography over the past year. We have quickly grown from a part time business run by a stay-at-home-mom only a year ago, to a two-floor studio with a family of employees today. I feel so incredibly lucky to wake up and do what I love everyday. I feel blessed to have clients who have become like family to me and to have the privilege to watch and capture their children as they grow. Even when I am furiously editing for a gallery deadline at 3 in the morning, this career still doesn’t feel like “work” to me.

My big announcement is that our family here at Heidi Hope has a new addition who I couldn’t be more thrilled about welcoming. No, I am not pregnant (as some of you have been asking). I’m busy enough with everyone else’s babies these days! Our new addition is my husband Shaun. He is leaving the corporate world, at least for the time being, to be our general manager. I’d like you all to get to know him, as he will probably be who answers the phone when you call, returns your emails, or answers your questions before the session.

Shaun and I met in college almost 10 years ago now. He was a Finance major, and I a Fine Arts major. Completely opposite. We are still opposites. Shaun thinks logically, I think creatively. He is neat and I leave my stuff everywhere. He throws everything away and I am a pack rat. He remembers names and numbers, I remember faces and outfits. He could tell you the license plate of the first car I drove or remember where I placed my keys when I walked in the door. Let me tell you, I lose my keys A LOT. Shaun has been here for one week and the bills are paid ahead of time, the laundry is done a day early, and you can actually see the top of my desk!

Do we have anything in common? We do. Family. It is the most important thing to both of us. While I feel like many of my clients have become family to me over the past year, now I truly feel as though this is a family business. We want our clients to feel at home in the studio. We want them to get to know us and our daughter. We want them to be part of our family here!

It will certainly be a big change, but one we feel very excited to make. I have been so sad to turn away new parents again and again as we have been fully booked month after month. I know that every newborn changes so quickly, and I want to be able to take on more clients and capture those special moments for them. Having Shaun here to run the business will allow me to focus more on photography so I don’t have to say “no” to so many of you in the future! Get ready for some new session openings this spring and if you visit the studio, you’ll see we have doubled our square footage. You no longer have to look at my messy desk! I promise to post some photos of our new space soon.

Two 3 month olds visited the studio last week and here is the first. You'll notice I'll be keeping previews short and sweet in the coming months. Taking Pictures Outdoors in Snow

Photographing your children outdoors in the snow can be tricky. You may find that your kids come out too dark against a background that is too bright, or that they are blurry when in action. Here are some helpful hints to ensure you get that snowflake caught on the tongue, sled cruise down the hill, snowman being made.... or tea party!

1) Set your camera on beach/snow scene to ensure proper exposure. This setting can be found in your special scenes menu. Check your camera manual to locate this feature.

2) Increase your aperture 2 stops if you have manual settings. This will compensate for the bright background and correct your kids turning into 'silhouettes'.

3) Set your camera on action mode if kids are moving. Otherwise they might be blurred. This setting may also be found in your special scenes menu under kids and pets mode.

4) Turn on your flash to balance the light reflecting off the snow as well as to lighten kids’ faces that might be in shadow.

5) Set your white balance. You may have a manual setting on your camera that allows you to point it at something white and then press the white balance button or setting on your menu. Setting your white balance will get rid of that bluish tint and will also rectify photos that are too light or too dark.

6) Don’t leave your camera out in the cold; your rechargeable batteries will drain more quickly in cold temperatures.

7) Have fun! Smiling yourself, singing, clapping, and playing peek-a-boo are all great ways to get your kids to smile if they aren’t already!

The under one crowd has been keeping me busy this month and I swear every session is my new favorite. This little 7 month old was an absolute joy to photograph. He was so sweet and smiley. I just adore his two front teeth! 7 months is such a perfect age to photograph. What a way to get through this long winter! I have had so much fun over the past weeks celebrating the first birthdays of many of my Baby's First Year clients from 2009. Last week I traveled to Baby A's house for a fun and relaxed 1 year old session. You may remember A from his last 2 previews at 6 months and 9 months. At this shoot I also wanted to capture some of the special details of A as a baby before his baby days are too soon past. It is always sad to say good bye to a baby's first year client at their one year shoot, but I hope to continue creating memories for these families as they grow and I feel so blessed to have been a part of capturing the special moments of their year past. She wasn't much in the mood for my camera, but she LOVED the cake! It's odd, I find many babies are actually scared of the cake. I think they aren't quite sure what to make of it. Not R! This sweet baby girl came to visit the studio last week. We actually had to reschedule our original session date because I had come down with the stomach flu that, judging by everyone's facebook profiles, has now traveled through the whole state of Rhode Island. The next day we were hit with some more snow (is everyone around here as ready for the summer as I am?!?!). Mom and dad were traveling a long way from North of Boston so we postponed another day. Finally our session worked out and this little girl didn't want to miss a moment of it. She was the most alert newborn I've photographed in some time. I think you have a smarty pants on your hands mom and dad. She looked straight into my lens with fantastic eye control. We finally did get a few sleepy shots and thankfully mom and dad preferred simplicity so we didn't need to try any crazy posing! Enjoy your preview mom and dad. She is simply beautiful!

Last week was full of babies and this sweet little girl was another one to make my heart melt. She looked like a little doll with cherry red lips and dark skin and lashes. She required almost no editing her skin was so perfect! Mom and dad brought along a blanket that was a family heirloom and I just so happened to buy a yellow pot a few weeks back that matched it perfectly. I love the challenge of creatively incorporating keepsakes into the sets we think up, and I adore the results here! I also had the chance to use a brand new wrap that I recently ordered. We tried it on baby C earlier in the week but he was just a bit to long to curl into it. Baby D turned out to be just the right size. Add a flower and it was just perfection! This adorable little man came to the studio to visit last week. You may remember mom and dad from their maternity shoot. The whole family braved the blizzard that never was to come into the studio early last Wednesday morning. Because of the impending storm, it was a bit darker than I prefer in the studio, but we managed to get some adorable portraits just the same! Baby C slept for us in the beginning and by the end was up and ready to join the party. I used to shoot families of newborns all in black, but lately have been asking parents to bring white shirts as well for a fresh and light look. I'm really happy with the results on white! One last preview today and then it is off to prep some galleries and mail out some orders! These adorable baby boys came to the studio this week. They were actually 6 weeks old at our session and I think the oldest newborns I have photographed to date! They did amazing for their age and I had fun working with their family. In person I could hardly tell them apart (although they aren't identical) but when editing I always knew who was who. This was also my first shoot with my assistant Christina. I can't begin to tell you how much easier a twin shoot is with an extra set of hands. Being a mommy to twin girls herself, she was a natural! Enjoy your preview mom and dad.

This adorable baby girl came to the studio last week for her 3 month old portraits. I like to keep 3 month portraits simple, as babies still can't be posed in many ways and they are so small they can easily be taken over by lots of props and clothing! This little girl was extra teeny at only around 8 pounds. She had the most amazing blue eyes and her skin was peaches and cream, completely perfect straight out of the camera! One of the best parts of my job is being able to share in the wonderful news of families as they grow and capture some element of the joy in those special moments for them. It has been especially uplifting this month as I have received so many emails from expecting parents entering the newborn session giveaway. So many of my clients are expecting their second or third babies and I have had the joy of being one of the first to find out! Families experience hardship as well, and while it is often hard to watch some one you care about go through a difficult time, I hope that my work can bring them a smile that will help them through in some small way.

This sweet little girl came to visit me in the studio last week and she was such a joy to photograph. You may remember her as a newborn. Last July when I photographed her, she was 6 weeks old and was my tiniest newborn to date at only 6lbs. We actually missed mom's maternity session because she went into labor 6 weeks early and baby C was born at only 4lbs. Mom and dad have had to be very strong this year. When C came into the studio before the Holidays for her 6 month session, she had a really tough time. Mom knew something was wrong and endlessly advocated for her daughter's health. Well, it turned out that C was in fact having some health problems that were causing her to be so uncomfortable. Now with the help of a temporary feeding tube being inserted into her tummy, baby C is thriving. On top of that mom has had her own health difficulties (and who wouldn't with all of the stress she experienced) including having had her gallbladder removed in the fall. After December's session, I told mom that I would be happy to have baby C back into the studio for a complimentary session so we could capture her true personality when she was feeling better. I can't begin to explain the difference I saw in her. She was bright and happy and on the move! She laughed and smiled and ate like a champ! I hate to sound cliche, but you could seriously see the sparkle in her eyes. She was beautiful, inside and out, and I adored capturing her joy.

With a roller coaster of a year behind them, mom and dad received some news that they (and their doctors) never thought they would hear. I'm thrilled to be able to share it with you, but I'll let the photos do the talking!

Thank you for letting me share your story mom. I hope this is the start to a beautiful year for you and your family! You deserve it!

This week was full of older babies in the studio and I just had a ball photographing all of them. I have so many new favorites.... Wow! Thank you so much everyone for your entries today. 1 day down and I can't believe how full my inbox was! I have received a few great questions and would like to answer them here so that anyone else who might have the same questions may see.

Can dads enter the contest?
absolutely! however please submit only one entry per expecting couple. So mom and dad do not both need to email an entry.

Can someone expecting multiples enter?
Yes! I love having multiples in the studio!

If multiples are born extremely early, must they be photographed in the first two weeks?
No. We can schedule the newborn shoot based on your needs. And that goes for all babies, of course! I always say "the earlier, the better" to get more out of the shoot, but I am happy to wait for babies and new parents to be ready for some fun!

Can I upgrade or transfer to a different type of session?
No. There is no cash value to this contest's winnings. The contest is to win a newborn session at The Heidi Hope Studio in Warwick RI and may not be transferred to any other type of session. Should the winners need to cancel, there is no refund or transferal of any kind.

Should I send an entry in every day to increase my chances of winning?

Happy February everyone! This February is an exciting month for me for a few reasons.

One year ago this Friday was my very first official portrait shoot after starting Heidi Hope Photography. That same family is coming back this March for baby A’s 1^st birthday shoot. A will be my very first “Baby’s First Year” graduate and I can't tell you how much I have loved working with her family. Thank you for believing in my work before I even had a portfolio! This little heart breaker came to visit the studio last week and I just adored getting this preview ready for mom and dad and looking back over the shots we got. He was so sweet and sleepy during his session, but we did manage to get a few with his eyes open at the end. I have been dying to share this preview with you. This adorable little girl came to the studio last week and we had so much fun. She took a little time and patience to fall asleep, but once she was out, she was sooooo good to me! Mom gave me free reign to try out some new props. I recently ventured out on a whim to Joanne's during a snow storm. I was ready for spring and itching to shop. I bought this red set up (below), along with all of the new flower headbands and hats I've made lately, and have been dying to use them ever since. I finally got my chance and I love the way the photos turned out. I could have seriously posted every picture from this shoot in the preview. As the icing on the cake, this little cutie smiled during the whole last set up. Check out the giant smile below! Every one from this session is a favorite. 2010 and big things are happening!

Wow, the first few weeks of 2010 have really escaped me! I kept imagining that after the holiday rush, things would slow down in the land of Heidi Hope Photography and I could play some major catch up. I am both happy and sorry to say that nothing is slowing down here! There are an enormous number of new client inquiries coming in and I am making some major changes to keep both the level of service and quality of experience at the height I envisioned when beginning this business.

There are some big things to come in 2010. We've already overhauled the ordering system and installed a new interactive ordering gallery that should make both booking sessions and ordering prints and products so much easier. The next step is to implement our new slide show preview galleries for detail rich images that do justice to the wonderful portraits created from your custom experience.

Another major change to come is in the way of new client correspondences. I have to apologize to anyone who has made a new inquiry in the past few months. New client inquiries have grown exponentially and it has become impossible to keep up in a manner that I would like. For this reason I have decided to hire a new client specialist and they will hopefully be starting in the coming weeks! If you have recently inquired about a session in the coming months, I truly appreciate both your interest and your patience in waiting for a response, and I look forward to working with you this year.

On top of all of that boring business stuff, I have a whole lot of fun announcements on their way as well. I will be looking for models in the very near future, have some great giveaways to promote (including the newborn session giveaway starting February first!!), and some wonderful session opportunities once the weather warms up. I also hope to FINALLY be launching my email newsletters so thank you everyone for all of your subscription requests thus far. We read the book Good Night San Francisco last night and on the last page, G pointed to a little stick figure in a building and said "aunt cort-e-nee home. night night." and then kissed the page. Melt!

These two cuties stole my heart yesterday. At only about 5lbs each they were teeny tiny little bundles of joy! Baby M just returned from the hospital this week so we were finally able to do our much anticipated shoot. With so many newborn sessions now in the studio, it is refreshing to hit the road and get a change of scenery. Twin newborn shoots are always twice as hard, but I am happy to report that we were able to pull off all of the shots mom and dad wanted. Mom loved the long hats and dad loved the redsox. Some times it is hard to incorporate large props into a newborn session because the tiny babies become overwhelmed, but I think we really made the red sox shot work. (Thanks to mom and dad's help, who kept the babies happy while a scaled a bar stool for the shot!) We even got a shot with the Gulf ball for dad! I loved meeting this family and getting to know these two little heart breakers who I hope to see again this summer. Can't wait to show you the rest!

I just can't seem to get out of the house this morning. The newborn session laundry is just endless! While I'm waiting to hear the dryer buzzer sound (and seriously pondering a laundry service for the studio), I figured I would get one of today's previews up. Luckily G is contently eating her orange slices and catching up on her DVR'ed Super Why episode, so I have a few moments to be productive. Earlier this week I had a few visitors at the studio. Adorable 2 year old C and his big brother traveled down from Boston with mom and dad for their session. C was one of the best two year olds I've had at the studio. I think it is because he had such a great big brother to look up to! I had so much fun photographing them both. Here is a little preview. Can't wait to show you the rest mom and dad.

This sweet little guy came to visit me in the studio with his mama and one of my neighbors. He was such a joy to photograph and I loved visiting with the girls. Baby X completely stole my heart with his adorable looks and big doe eyes. Why do boys always get the most amazing lashes?! You may notice I've been into this kind-of vintage processing lately. Sort of the modern version of the "sepia" that was so cool back in the 90's. I bet you all thought sepia was still cool huh?! It's okay, I'll let that slide! I get bored pretty easily so I've been having fun playing with different tones and textures over my photographs. I thought you might like to see a before and after (below). Anytime I do this, I include both versions in the client gallery, unless one is clearly much better than the other. Enjoy your preview today!

This sweet pair came to visit me this week in the studio and they were so much fun to photograph. Getting two three-month-olds in the frame of the camera and looking in the same direction can be tough, but mom and nana were a wonderful help! Between the three of us we were able to capture their attention long enough to snap a photo. I think we got some adorable shots and I can't wait to show you the rest.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing THREE two year olds. Yep, you read that right. Twin toddlers and their cousin gave me a fabulous work out. I was just saying in Saturday's post how I feel the hardest age to photograph is 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 years old. The biggest challenge is to just catch them with in the frame of the camera before they move again! And that is with one. Trying to catch three? I was excited for the challenge and came armed with stickers, balloons, and M&M's (because I'm not above bribery). We also headed outdoors for a few photos because the light was so nice, but it was a frigid 20 degrees so we didn't last too long. Mom just wanted one picture of the three of them and I am happy to report, we got one (we got a few actually)! I also had to include a few out takes in the preview today because I was laughing the entire time I was editing these. Can't wait to show you the rest!

One of my resolutions this year was to take more photographs of my daughter. This past year has been a bit of a rollercoaster for my family and I, and as I have been so busy photographing everyone else's family memories, I have been failing to capture my own. My daughter is truly a muse for me. She inspired me to start this business, but she also inspires me every day to do better and be more. There is something so magical about childhood and I want to preserve that forever with my photographs. Of course one of the problems with taking more photographs of my daughter is that she is 18 months old. 1 1/2- 2 1/2 years old can be the most difficult age to photograph. They just don't sit still! This morning I woke up with a vision in my head for this shoot, and I was actually insane enough to carry it out (with lots of help from my mom, who gladly indulges my creative whims). G has been loving tea parties and dress up lately so I thought "what better way than a tea party to keep her in front of the camera?!" It worked for a few minutes anyway. At least enough time to capture a shot. A single moment of childhood that I can forever look back upon with a smile.

I was hoping to share this preview earlier, but I've had to deal with an internet outage from Verizon today... grrr! Well thankfully I am smiling again, and how could I not looking at this adorable face? I think you'll be smiling too after viewing his portraits. The whole family came to the studio yesterday and I had so much fun with them all. Mom, dad, grandparents, and sweet baby W. They even packed their own cooler! Clearly they were tailgating professionals. Baby W wanted to stay up for all the action, but when he finally did fall asleep, boy did we have fun! They were all so much fun to work with. Baby L was only 6 days old, but ate more than any baby I've seen! She was a teeny little girl at under 7 pounds so perhaps she was just trying to catch up to her big sister :0) Even though she ate much more than she slept, we still managed some adorable shots. Happy 2010 everyone! I have a really good feeling about this year and it started off wonderfully with the couple who came to the studio yesterday. After a few days off around the holidays, I'm feeling refreshed with new ideas and lots of inspiration. This couple was so fun to work with. They were up for anything and kept me laughing. They didn't mind being crammed up near the windows on a dark and snowy day... or driving down an hour from Boston to get there! I think we got some amazing shots and I absolutely can't wait to meet this sweet baby... due in 3 weeks! I'm off to the studio to meet my first newborn of the year, with many more to come this week. This sweet baby girl came to visit me just a few days after Christmas this year and what a gift she was! She was 2 weeks old on the day of our shoot so it did take her a little while and a lot of feeding to fall asleep. I'm learning that 6-10 days old is the ideal time to photograph a newborn. Of course it isn't impossible after that, but 2 weekers can certainly be stubborn! Well, once we finally did get this little girl to sleep, she was nothing but sweet! We were able to get lots of adorable shots that I know mom and dad are going to be thrilled with. It was so wonderful meeting you all the other day. Enjoy your preview.

My December newborns have been oh so good to me! I loved meeting this little girl and her family yesterday and am excited to share the preview because I have a lot of new favorites from our session. I love photographing newborns more and more every time. While I feel like I could pose a newborn all day on the bean bag, I've been trying to challenge myself with more creative shots off the bag. I'm really happy with the way these turned out. I actually got teary eyed editing the shot of all three of them curled up together! I hope you love them so far mom and dad. I can't wait to share this preview with you tonight. As if Christmas time weren't magical enough, I am blessed to spend the week leading up to it with a few sweet newborns. Baby S and her parents traveled a long way to the studio today and we had so much fun capturing S's first days of life. She was 10 days old today... a perfect age for newborn portraits. 5-10 days of life is the ideal time to create portraits as baby's are still very sleepy and haven't yet hit their two week growth spurt. Baby S was an absolute dream. Amazing skin, a gorgeous little face (I was seriously tempted to smooch), and she loved to be curled up into the most adorable poses. I've been waiting to try out some new family poses and everyone happily indulged me today. Dad gets the award for what he went through! Thanks so much for coming to play today. This little cutie pie came to visit the studio last week and I had so much fun meeting his family. I could have chatted with mom and dad all day. In fact, that's what we spent most of the session doing! Baby T was 2 weeks old and just hitting his growth spurt. Growth spurt = hungry = not very sleepy! I've had a lot of fun photographing babies over the past year. I've collected more props than I know what to do with. Fortunately for my art (but unfortunately for my wallet) I get bored easily and after the rush of Holiday portraits I was ready for something fresh. My Christmas "bonus" this year was to buy a new lens. I went for the 60mm macro and I can't wait to share the results with you! This little man was the perfect baby to try it out on. Mom loves simplicity in photography and that's exactly what I was going for with this lens. Sharp focus and slim depth of field give a creamy background and put all the attention on the simple beauty of a baby's features. Magical. Lucky for me, this baby made my job easy. Mom takes lots of pictures so he wasn't the least bit scared of my lens in his face! He was smiley and easy going the whole shoot. I could get lost in his eyes. My second maternity shoot last week was on location. Mom is pregnant with TWINS and on bed rest so I brought my studio to her. Twins! Doesn't she look fabulous?! I had the pleasure of doing two maternity shoots last week, both of whom I will have the pleasure of doing a newborn shoot for as well. I love meeting a couple and then getting to photograph them again as a family. It is such a magical time! This couple was so laid back and fun. They came down to the studio and we had fun playing with a few different set ups. Mom and dad were both sports fans, and ok, I might have been a little biased when setting up their sports shots :0) At least we all found some common ground with the red sox. Remember this little man? How could you forget such an adorable face? I certainly didn't. He is still one of my favorite newborns to date. Well he is now almost 6 months and apparently he got more adorable by the day while he was away from my lens. The whole family traveled down to the studio this weekend and I loved seeing them again. Preview number two today is from the adorable P family. I can't believe how well they all did in front of the camera! Baby E was one of the easiest babies I've photographed. I guess third children are like that right?! I have SO many adorable shots of her I can't wait to share, but I'm being disciplined and sticking to the holiday shots so we can get cards out in time! Two previews for you this Sunday and here is the first. Adorable M came to visit me at the studio on Friday and we had such fun! I couldn't believe how well she did actually as she, mom and dad all stopped at the studio on their way home from a week of vacation. We got some adorable portraits, but when it came to the holiday pictures, M had other plans! Below are my two BEST holiday shots! M wanted nothing to do with the hat and didn't sit still very long with all of the ornaments around.
